Hump day. We’ve got a cheating little league team, some anchor shake ups and more snow in Boston. Fun times. It’s The Skinny. Let’s do this.
After more than 15 years, Jon Stewart will step down as host of The Daily Show sometime this year. Neither he nor Comedy Central know exactly when, but it will happen. Twitter was sad. Stewart was sad. The audience was sad. I am sad.
He’s not retiring, however. He said he’s got lots of “ideas,” so don’t expect him to disappear.
Kayla Mueller Killed
U.S. aid worker Kayla Mueller has been confirmed dead by U.S. officials and her family. While ISIS claims she died from Jordan airstrikes, the U.S. is skeptical, claiming that regardless, ISIS is responsible for her death. After all, they were holding her against her will.
NBC has suspended Brian Williams for 6 months without pay following some lies. We’re expecting either two possibilities from here: 1) he never anchors again; 2) he lays low for a while, then does a series of intense apologies, then returns.
Police have questioned Bobbi’s boyfriend Nick Gordon about bruises on her chest. He says they’re from him trying to perform CPR after finding her unconscious and face down in a bathtub.
She remains in a medically induced coma in Atlanta.
Chris Kyle Murder Trial
The trial starts today for Kyle’s killer, Eddie Ray Routh. Routh killed Kyle and veteran Chad Littlefield at a Texas firing range on February 2nd, 2013.
At one point, we had over 2,800 troops in West Africa to help contain the Ebola situation. Now, more than half of them have returned and only 100 will remain come April. Although over 8,000 people have died since this outbreak began, the WHO reports that the number of new cases continues to go down.

Tuesday was a solid rebound for the market. Apple became America’s first $700 billion company with a 2% increase in the stock price yesterday. In the past 12 months, Steve Jobs’ brainchild has done $44.5 billion in profit. And they’re still not really in China.
It wasn’t great for everyone, however. Molson Coors struggled to a 4% stock drop after sales dropped from $1.80 billion to $1.71 billion last quarter.
Today we’re looking out for quarterlies from Cheesecake Factory, Cisco, and PepsiCo.
Little League – Yes, that’s right. Little league. It was announced this morning that the famous Chicago inner-city Little League Jackie Robinson West team has been stripped of their wins after they were violating district zoning rules. Essentially they were taking players that didn’t live in their district on their team, a move straight out of Friday Night Lights.
Other Sports – There’s just not a ton going on. NBA/NHL are kind of right in the middle. It’s February. We’re all cold and bored. March Madness is our next big thing.
Golf – The boys are at Pebble Beach for the pro-am this week, which will be entertaining. Tiger isn’t there though 🙁
MLB – The Marlins will host the 2017 All-Star Game! Cool!
Super Important Fact

Yes, I skipped the “Entertainment” section today. There was a lot of hot entertainment action in the top stories, so no need for redundancy. Gonna miss J. Stewart.
Regardless, we shall have a day.
