You know how I know I’m in Boston? Another Super Bowl title and another 2 feet of snow. Couldn’t be more obvious. February in Boston.
It’s The Skinny. Let’s do this.
Yep. Pats won their 4th Super Bowl in 14 seasons. Tom Brady the MVP. Game came down to a couple wild moments, with Seattle getting a miracle catch on the 5-yard line then New England getting a heroic interception 2 plays later with 30 seconds left. It was wild.

Yep. Another blizzard warning in the northeast. We’ve got a bunch of snow coming down now then conditions that will turn it to ice in the coming days. Exciting stuff. Doesn’t get much better.
Whitney Houston’s daughter is in a medically induced coma after she was found facedown in a bathtub full of water over the weekend. Her mother famously died in 2012 from “accidental drowning” after being discovered facedown in a bathtub. She had a bunch of different drugs in her system.

Japanese journalist Kenji Goto was the latest western hostage to be beheaded by deranged ISIS militants over the weekend. Goto was a husband and father. He went to Syria to look for his friend, Haruna Yukawa, who was beheaded a little more than a week ago. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said, “To the terrorists, we will never, never forgive them for this act.”
Still missing. Like 330 days.
Economy (last week)

Yes, it was ugly last week. Very ugly. We were up and down, getting excited at points, but ultimately fell to our demise on Friday.
Apple, Google and Facebook killed it, while Microsoft, Alibaba and Coach got crushed.
Oh, and Shake Shack went off. The NYC-based burger chain’s IPO shot up to $46/share, valuing the company at $1.6 billion.
Today we’re looking out for quarterlies from 1-800-FLOWERS and Exxon Mobil.
Super Bowl – Again, the Patriots won the Super Bowl. Their 4th in 14 years. They’re 4 for 6 in that span. Tough to argue against that dominance. Tom Brady is arguably the GOAT at QB.
NFL – Johnny Manziel has checked into rehab, his family rep announced this morning. He’s a notorious partier who massively underperformed in his first year as a pro.
Golf – Brooks Koepka won the Waste Management Phoenix Open yesterday afternoon, while Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson missed the cut. Tiger shot a career worst 82 on Friday, finishing the tournament at +13. That was tied for dead last. They’re back at it this weekend at Torrey Pines.
NHL – 4 tilts last night.
NBA – 2 tilts last night.
Tennis – Novak Djokovic won his 5th Australian Open title yesterday, beating Andy Murray in four sets. This is Djokovic’s 8th major title.
ESPN; NHL; NBA; Golf Channel
‘American Sniper’ crushed it again at the box office. Brought in over $30 mill. And the Super Bowl delivered the highest overnight rating in history. Katy Perry did some wild things at her Super Bowl halftime show, including some dancing sharks.

Super Important Fact
NFL quarterbacks threw from the 1-yard line 109 times this season. In those 109 attempts, there was just 1 interception: it was last night with 30 seconds left in the Super Bowl.
And just like that, the NFL season was over. It was a wild one. Early in the season, both the Seahawks and the Patriots were largely written off. If they weren’t written off, they were doubted. Heavily. But, in the end, they both plowed through and made it to the big game, providing one of the most exciting Super Bowl finishes in recent memory. Thank god, because that was fantastic.
Stay warm and, as always, please, have yourself a day.
