This week we found out that the Edmonton Oilers won the NHL draft lottery. After finishing 28th out of 30 teams, the Oilers had an 11-ish percent chance of winning the lottery. Buffalo finished in 30th and came in with a 20 percent chance to land the first pick. Buffalo, despite losing out on the first pick, still seals up the second pick — BU freshman Jack Eichel — who will come in right behind the talk of this year’s draft.
Connor McDavid, who will go number one, is often described as a once-in-a-generation talent and the best player in the draft since Sidney Crosby. So, this is a big year to be winning the draft lottery.
The Oilers have, for lack of better word, sucked for a long time. This will be their fourth No. 1 overall pick in 6 years, but they haven’t made the playoffs since the ’05-’06 season.
Because of this seemingly horrible fate, we now have this fantastic video set to the extremely powerful “it’s not your fault” scene from Good Will Hunting.
