Peaceful protests turned into not peaceful protests again last night. While a large crowd locked arms and urged peacefulness, a few protesters tossed bottles, rockets, and molotov cocktails. The heavily, heavily armed popo’s responded with stun grenades and tear gas, their weapon of choice.

Israel / Gaza
So, Israel and Gaza have agreed to extend the current cease-fire by another 24 hours. I’m pretty sure Israel and Gaza are getting their negotiation techniques from the snooze alarm… ten more minutes, ten more minutes.
Whatever it is, it’s calming things and less people are dying. This is a good thing. Wahoo.
Kurdish and Iraqi forces retook the Mosul Dam in northern Iraq with the help of American airstrikes yesterday. The dam is crucial strategically, as ISIS could have wreaked all kinds of havoc with full control of the dam. More here.
Syria Civil War
Amidst the arsenal of global crises right now, Syria has oft been forgotten. Well, yesterday was a big, important day for the conflict and the current and future state of Syria. Syria’s most dangerous chemical weapons have been destroyed at sea. A U.S. ship, the Cape Ray, spent the last 45 days in international waters destroying over 600 metric tons of Syria’s weapons.
Texas Governor and highly speculated 2016 Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry and his legal team are lashing out after he was indicted last week. His indictment is on two felony accounts after threatening to veto funding for a program if the Democrat in charge of that program did not step down.

Most of us were probably slow yesterday. It was Monday. The two days before yesterday were, indeed, a summer weekend. Welp, the market was not slow. The Dow picked up 176 and the S&P 17 on continued feelings that tension is easing in Ukraine.
