KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) –A deadly shark attack Wednesday morning has prompted officials to close beaches along parts of Maui.
Shortly before 9 a.m., a shark bit a female snorkeler in the water near Makena at a surf spot known as “Dumps”, according to the Maui Fire Department. Snorkelers found the woman floating face down about 200 yards off-shore. She was pulled out of the water, but had severe injuries to her upper torso and had lost an arm in the attack.
Paramedics and firefighters began life saving efforts onshore, but the woman, identified only as a 65-year-old resident of Kihei, did not survive.

Yep, they’re back. I wrote about it yesterday with this film crew in New Zealand and, sure enough, here we go. An innocent 65-year-old snorkeler dead in Hawaii.
There is just no creature from which we are more helpless than a shark. We suck at swimming and there’s nowhere for us to go. If a bear attacks you? You can climb a tree. If a T-Rex attacks you? You can just stand still. If a shark attacks you? You’re done. You have zero chance.
