Wow. Awesome stuff from Montreal Canadiens defenseman PK Subban.
USA Today — Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban made the largest single charitable donation ever by a Canadian athlete when he gave $10 million to the Montreal Children’s Hospital this week.

Amazing. Now a lot of people might look at this and say, “Oh he’s an athletic superstar, he’s got the money.” But hold on. First of all, NHL players don’t make MLB money. Subban is slated to make $7 million in 2015, BEFORE taxes.
In Quebec, an individual making a $7,000,000 annual salary will pay about 49.69% in taxes, or $3,478,321.
So, he donates TEN MILLION!? Sure, he rakes in extra cash from endorsement deals and other marketable channels from his celebrity. But still, the point is that $10 million is no joke for Subban — that’s a SIGNIFICANT portion of his wealth.
What an absolute hero. I just went from not a PK Subban fan at all to a huge PK Subban fan. Can’t wait to watch this man fist pump from the Habs blue line like Tiger at Augusta.
PS – No clue why I chose that picture where Subban looks like a prohibition era gangster as the cover photo; to me, it just works.
