We haven’t heard much about Ray Rice in a while. This is good. However, his trial with the NFL is set to begin in two weeks so I am going to make this very simple for you guys.
There are lots of intricacies and technicalities in legal cases. This one will be no different. But I will boil it down to the general gist and then we can all move on.
Ray Rice is suing the NFL over his indefinite suspension. He is doing this because the NFL originally suspended him for 2 games, then changed it to indefinite. You can’t nail someone twice for the same crime.
This guy sums it up well.

The NFL is claiming they increased the suspension due to new evidence. Their story is that they did not have the same details about the events that unfolded inside that elevator that were later showed when TMZ released the video.
Ray Race says this is impossible, for he and his team have continuously declared that Rice did not lie. They have declared that, from day 1, he told the entire truth about what happened.
That’s the entire case. Did the NFL change his punishment due to new evidence or did they already know what happened when Ray Rice told them the details soon after the incident?
Enter Roger Goodell.
Roger Goodell had said that he would leave it up to the judge on whether he would testify or not. The judge has ruled: Roger Goodell will testify.

What should you expect? Nothing new. Roger Goodell will be a monotonous robot that will say the exact same things he has said in news conferences, interviews, and public statements.
The case will hinge on Rice’s legal team proving that Ray Rice told the league the full truth, thus implicating that the NFL changed Rice’s punishment only because the public saw the in-elevator video.
And wallah, that’s Inside The Courtroom with Sammy Riggs. You’re welcome.
